Nxive Sender

Everythingyouneedtoknow.

Setup. Usage. Security. All of it.

01

Quick Start

Three steps. That is all it takes.

01

Download

Get Nxive Sender for your platform. Available on Windows, macOS, and Android. One installer, no dependencies.

02

Connect

Open the app on both devices. They automatically discover each other on the same local network using mDNS. No pairing codes, no accounts.

03

Send

Select your files or folders and tap send. Transfers happen directly between devices over an encrypted connection. No cloud, no middlemen.

02

How It Works

The protocol behind the transfer

Local Network Discovery

Nxive Sender uses mDNS (multicast DNS) to automatically discover other devices running the app on your local network. No manual IP configuration needed. Devices appear instantly.

Direct REST API

File transfers happen over a local REST API between devices. Your files never touch an external server. The sending device acts as a client, the receiving device as a server. Simple, fast, direct.

TLS Encryption

Every transfer is encrypted using TLS certificates generated locally on each device. Even on shared networks, your files remain private and tamper proof during transit.

No Authentication Required

No accounts. No logins. No cloud services. Nxive Sender operates entirely on your local network. Your identity is your device. Nothing is stored, tracked, or uploaded.

03

File Transfer

What you can send and how

Any File Type

Send documents, photos, videos, archives, application installers, or any file without restrictions. No size limits, no file type filtering.

Folder Transfer

Send entire folder structures with preserved hierarchy. Subfolders and nested files arrive exactly as they were organized on the source device.

Multiple Files

Select and send multiple files at once in a single transfer session. Batch operations are fully supported with progress tracking for each file.

Clipboard Sharing

Share text snippets and clipboard content between devices instantly. Useful for links, code snippets, and short messages.

05

Security

Privacy by design, not by promise

Zero Knowledge

We never see your files. There are no servers to intercept data. Transfers happen exclusively over your local network between two devices.

On Device Encryption

TLS certificates are generated and stored locally on each device. No certificate authority involved. Each device manages its own encryption keys.

No Telemetry

Nxive Sender collects zero analytics, zero crash reports, zero usage data. The app makes no outbound network requests beyond local device discovery.

Open Source Core

The transfer engine is built on LocalSend, an open source project. The protocol and encryption implementation are publicly auditable by anyone.

06

Settings

Make it yours

Device Name

Customize how your device appears to others on the network. Change it from Settings to something recognizable.

Save Location

Choose where received files are saved. Default is the Downloads folder. You can set a custom directory for each device.

Auto Accept

Enable auto accept to receive files without manual confirmation. Useful for trusted home networks. Disable on public networks.

Updates

Nxive Sender checks for updates on launch. You can also manually check from Settings. We recommend keeping the app updated for security patches.

07

Troubleshooting

Common issues, solved

Devices not finding each other

Ensure both devices are on the same WiFi network or local network. Some routers isolate devices on guest networks. Disable AP isolation in your router settings if needed. Restart the app on both devices.

Transfer speeds are slow

Transfer speed depends on your local network hardware. For best results, use a 5GHz WiFi connection or wired ethernet. Avoid transferring over congested 2.4GHz networks.

Connection drops during transfer

This usually indicates network instability. Move closer to your WiFi access point. Ensure neither device enters sleep mode during transfer. Check that no VPN is interfering with local network traffic.

App not opening or crashing

Try reinstalling the latest version. On Windows, run as administrator if the app fails to start. On Android, ensure you have granted all requested permissions.

Firewall blocking connections

Nxive Sender requires local network access. On Windows, allow the app through Windows Defender Firewall. On macOS, accept the incoming connection prompt. Enterprise firewalls may block mDNS traffic on port 5353.

No complexity.
Just answers.
